I really hate when authors have the first 3/4 of a book be the same plot of a previous one w/ new characters. The scenes feel rushed and redundant at the same time. It's not in depth enough to make the complete switch worth it, and it's too all over the place to make it feel like a standalone. I don't know...I'm hoping book 3 will be different. I really struggle with giving this one 3 stars. This is the first time I can say that I truly felt let down by Sands. Plots are recycled enough, but only 2 or 3 authors can pull something like this off and have me engaged. It works better if the original story is only told from the perspective of one character. Otherwise it's boring.
